Fridge shopping

After our mother’s day inpromoptu breakfast today, my dad & I went shopping for refrigerators. I actually can’t purchase anything until after I close because my income to debt ratio on my credit can’t change that dramtically until everything is signed off with the house. But, I thought that I should have as many ducks in a row as I can so we went. I went to Sears, Home Depot, Lowes and Fry’s and had the most success with Sears & Home Depot. I think I’m going to purchase the LG 25 cu. ft. French door, bottom freezer fridge from Home Depot. I’ll probably go take care of that on Monday or Wednesday night. (Tuesday is reserved for Kelly’s b-day celebration.) So, here is my new fridge (but in smooth black):

So much room!!!

Mother’s Day

My mom is the best. She is so generous, caring, loving, understanding, fun, nurturing…all the wonderful things you look for in a mom. To go with these fuzzy bunny characteristics, she is also firm with her decisions, she pushes me to do my best and she’ll tell me when I’ve done something that she doesn’t approve of. All these things (and more) have helped make me the independant, strong yet loving (hopefully) woman I am today. Thanks mom!

Also, a GREAT BIG Happy Mother’s Day to all the other moms out there: Connie, Faith, Faith’s mom, Cathy T’s mom, Tom’s wife, Kelly, Kristina, EVERY SPHS Band Mom, etc., etc., etc.!

Fun with Dick & Jane

Not necessarily 2 hours of ROTFL but fairly funny. I didn’t know if was a remake – I’m going to make a point to see the original sometime this summer.

The one thing I was impressed with is how unannoying Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni were. They’re not necessarily my #1 sets of actors to go see in movies. I really think that Jim Carrey has been so hyped up in the last 5-7 years that people are willing to over look some of the crap he’s put out there. I think the key in his being okay in this movie was that it wasn’t constant slapstick on his part. There was slapstick, it was just done is good amounts of moderation. Maybe he needs to stick to remakes!

New Layout

I’ve always liked this layout but I’ve never taken time to fiddle with the .css of the links area (the only part I don’t like) so I’ve not ever really used it. BUT, in honor of my moving into my house soon (I may be without “the internet” for a while *gasp*) and being able to drink coffee in my new back yard (no hot tub yet, Connie), I thought I’d go ahead and use this until the links list really pissed me off enough to stop using the layout or finally fix it.

Okay, I took 5 minutes, fixed the sidebar and now it’s how I want it. YAY!!! 😛

Counting, T minus 5 Days!

Well, I close on my house in 5 days. It’s still very frustrating, working “with” this seller. The last few days before closing are certainly very stressful. Lots of making sure all the paperwork is in order and still being unsure of things until the very last minute.

I’m really glad that I don’t have to move out of my apartment until the end of May. It gives me 2 weeks to get utilities straightened out and purchase a few necesseties – like a fridge! – before I have to move. I may have to hire a mover for the real big stuff but most of it is going to be movable by myself and a few friends, as needed.

Have I packed yet? Nope. I have no idea why I can’t get my ass in gear over this. I guess the last few uncertainties (hard to spell out what they are, however) and all this becoming a reality at all is really keeping me. Work has been fairly time and energy consuming still so some of it is just needing to rest while I have time at home.

We had our last concert of the year last night and it went very well. I presented 3 of the 5 ensembles (1 concert, 2 jazz) and all the kids from all the ensembles received high praise. I’m starting to get a bit emotional about this year ending, however. These seniors were freshmen when I started at Stony Point and I have been with them through quite the adventurous past 4 years. I’m really going to miss them since they won’t be around day in and day out. The one thing I guess I really never have to worry about with being a band director is empty nest syndrome!

Speaking of day in and day out, it’s time for bed. I’m beat.
