One teaser after another!

This is the intersection of Hwy 79(E. Palm Valley Blvd.) & FM-1490 (A.W. Grimes Blvd.). Why is this intersection significant enough that I’m choosing to blog about it today? It’s going to be my way to work and my way home each day and going this path should cut my travel time by 7-10 minutes each way. It’s supposed to be open by now and it looks complete from both sides but for some reason, it’s not. Maybe the middle isn’t yet. You can’t see it very well in this picture but there is a strip in between Hwy 79 (going across) and A.W. Grimes (being constructed) that’s just dirt. It looks like all they have to do is fill in that dirt with real road and we could use it easily enough. But not. We just keep getting teased. Ah, I’ll be so excited when they finally open it.

Speaking of opening, the new Steak & Shake in So. Austin is supposed to open on Wednesday. I’d go to the grand opening with my friend Kristina but I’m hosting the department Christmas Party that afternoon so that looks like a no go. It doesn’t look like they’ve even broken ground on the one that’s going in behind IKEA yet. Another teaser…. The story of my life.

Rumor Has It…

I watched Rumor Has It… tonight. It was a pretty good movie. The premise is that the book/movie The Graduate is based upon a family from Pasadena, California. For a time being, the people of Pasadena tried figuring out which family was the object of the book/movie but couldn’t. Very quickly, we figure out it’s Sarah Huttinger’s (played by Jennifer Aniston) family. The story goes from there. It’s pretty good; I laughed out loud and there were a few places I found myself laughing quite a bit. I did think the ending was a bit too predictable and stereotypical but eh, that’s Hollywood for ya. I love Shirley MacLaine in this movie; but when have I seen a movie with her in it that I haven’t enjoyed her performance? I think she’s quite good. So, in closing, if you get a chance to see it, do it. 4 out of 5 stars.

This Year’s First Christmas Joke

So, I haven’t posted much lately. I’ve been quite busy with band stuff (go figure) but I got this joke 3 times today and it’s just too funny not to share. Enjoy. 😉

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

“In honor of this holy season” Saint Peter said, “You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.”

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. “It represents a candle,” he said.
“You may pass through the pearly gates” Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, “They’re bells.”
Saint Peter said “You may pass through the pearly gates.”

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women’s panties.
St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, “And just what do those symbolize?”
The man replied, “These are Carols.”

And So The Holiday Season Begins…

Thanksgiving, Christmas prep & Happy Feet!!

Well, quite a bit has happened in the last few days. It’s been a nice time off and tomorrow, I have to wrap it up for the last few weeks of school before the Christmas Holidays Winter Break.

First, Thanksgiving. I spent most of Wednesday cleaning like crazy. I did a pretty good job on the common areas. Didn’t really get to my room or office but that was okay. Thursday, we all gathered at my house and had a wonderful time. Lots of food, lots of drink, lots of people. At one point, I had a glass of wine and a glass of champagne in front of me and bottles still being passed around the table. Ah yes, a family that can drink together, stays together (~as said by Naomi). Click on the picture on the left to see all the others. Oh, my mom did cook and bring the turkey. That’s why it’s in the laundry basket. (In case you were wondering.)

So, on Friday, I decided to decorate the house for Christmas. I didn’t have a tree and I had seen one at Target the other day so I went and got it and a few other things. The lines weren’t really that bad(!!) and the tree (pre-lit) was under $100(!!). I got some other lights but they’re not working. I hope it’s just a fuse because they’re very cute and already hanging. I forgot to check the lights before I hung them…bad me. They were also the last set on the shelf. Maybe another Target will have another set of them. If you click on the picture on the right, you’ll see more pics of the tree. I’ve got quite a bit more to put up and I’ll post those pics as I decorate more.

Today, I went to see Happy Feet at the IMAX theater. I have been waiting to see this since Kelly mentioned it in his blog last Spring! In case you haven’t been to Austin in a while, the next time you come to Austin, you’ll find a Texas History Museum next to UT and an IMAX theater inside the museum. It was a sold out show and I didn’t have tickets BUT, I had called yesterday to make reservations. The girl I talked to totally screwed up and didn’t bother to sell me any…but made me think I was on a “list” or something. So, we drove down there and found the show sold out but I explained my predicament to the girl at the Members counter (I’m a member of the museum, you see; hence the reservation thing – we get a discount on tickets). She somehow found 6 tickets and the Sedatole clan and I got to see the movie!! It was very cute but the ending had an odd twist, I thought. The cinematography and attention to detail was fantastic. Probably even more realistic than most animated movies I’ve seen lately (including Monsters, Inc. which did an awesome job of making the fur and details of the characters seem so real). I’d recommend seeing it just for that! 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Oh, Mumble’s eyes are just as blue as Elijah Wood’s eyes. So cool!!

Tonight, I’m meeting my buddy Greg for a little Blue October. What a great break!!
