Counting, T minus 5 Days!

Well, I close on my house in 5 days. It’s still very frustrating, working “with” this seller. The last few days before closing are certainly very stressful. Lots of making sure all the paperwork is in order and still being unsure of things until the very last minute.

I’m really glad that I don’t have to move out of my apartment until the end of May. It gives me 2 weeks to get utilities straightened out and purchase a few necesseties – like a fridge! – before I have to move. I may have to hire a mover for the real big stuff but most of it is going to be movable by myself and a few friends, as needed.

Have I packed yet? Nope. I have no idea why I can’t get my ass in gear over this. I guess the last few uncertainties (hard to spell out what they are, however) and all this becoming a reality at all is really keeping me. Work has been fairly time and energy consuming still so some of it is just needing to rest while I have time at home.

We had our last concert of the year last night and it went very well. I presented 3 of the 5 ensembles (1 concert, 2 jazz) and all the kids from all the ensembles received high praise. I’m starting to get a bit emotional about this year ending, however. These seniors were freshmen when I started at Stony Point and I have been with them through quite the adventurous past 4 years. I’m really going to miss them since they won’t be around day in and day out. The one thing I guess I really never have to worry about with being a band director is empty nest syndrome!

Speaking of day in and day out, it’s time for bed. I’m beat.

Krez asked me the other day if I’m starting to think about all the ways I want to fix up the new house. I found myself a little surprised to say that no, I haven’t really been just chomping at the bit to do major fix ups. I think the only part of the house I’m remotely even thinking about changes to is the back yard. It’s fairly bare and I think some nice foliage will help make it a bit nicer as well as help create a bit more privacy than a fence can give.

Honestly, after living in this apartment for three years, I’m just ready to move into a bigger space. I was standing in my kitchen after I posted the pics of the house thinking, “No wonder I so rarely cook!”. I love to cook but when you live in a kitchen with only two “tall” upper cabinets, one lower cabinet (other than under the sink) and a few drawers, the layout can’t create for much counter space. Cooking without counter space is REALLY hard. I have survived and cooked for myself and others along the way in there and I’m just glad it’s not any smaller!

I’m excited about closing and getting keys but it doesn’t feel real yet. The seller is still being a bit of an ass and I’ll be glad to get rid of his bullshit. I can’t believe he’s a parent. I hope he’s not the same way to his kids the way he is to strangers! Then again, he is a CPA for the IRS so there’s only so much nice a person like that can be. I just can’t get into packing things up. I guess I’m just so busy with work stuff that any time at home just feels luxurious and I don’t want to scurry around the apartment being more busy.

Only 14 more school days until the end of school. Only 9 more days until closing. Only 14 more calendar days until my birthday. Wow.

House Details

Here they are, house details & pics!!! We had the inspection today and it was very positive. Looks like there’s only minimum and not immediately needed repairs on the house so it’s a go! The mortgage broker has ordered an appraisal, the insurance policy has started and a closing date is set. In fact, the title company emailed me a quite lengthy email I’ll have to read and reply to tomorrow. Enough of my jabber so, here are the pics and details:

1 story house in Pflugerville
3 bedrooms, 2 baths
2 car garage, attached
Nice sized back yard – not too big, not too small
No back neighbors (the land belongs to the subdivision but isn’t really used for anything nor is it an eyesore).
1535 square feet

So, there you have it. Closing is May 15, house warming party is early to mid-June.

Okay. Maybe just one…

Connie’s right. I can’t ask any of you to be excited for me if I don’t even show you what the house looks like. Right now, I only have pictures from the listing. I’ll have to take more on Monday when I go back to the house for the inspection. Here’s one from the listing:

Okay, let’s push play!

YAY, the contract is signed and being taken to the title company today. The inspection will most likely happen on Monday and the closing is in 18 days (including today) – May 15. The house warming party should be around the second week in June.

If you’re coming for Three is The Magic Number Party on Saturday, May 20, I’ll have to take you guys over to the house. I’ll have moved a few things over then but I don’t think a full “move in” will have happened by that point. I have the luxury of moving over 2 1/2 weeks so I’m going to take my time, maybe. Let’s see how anxious I become once the keys are in my hands!

What do you think – change the locks once I get the keys?
