I’m watching Spiderman 2 as I update my blog. It’s absolute crap so far, 45 minutes into the movie. I about turned it off 20 minutes ago but I thought I’d give it some more time to develop. Nope, still not much developed. The villian has emerged, though. He’s a pretty cheesy character. I’m really disappointed at Marvel Comics for even wanting to put their name to this crap. I liked the first one. This is definitely a movie that should not have been made into a sequel. hmpf. I don’t know if I’d give it even 1/2 a star…

OMG, they’re making another one — Spider-Man 3

The Terminal

Even still, I really enjoyed it. Not too much of a chick-flick. Lots of historical references to Napoleon as part of the story line — the actors literally refer to Napoleon and history of that period — and so I learned a little something as well. There is a n underlying love story but it’s not the main theme through the movie. There’s even a twist at the end that I didn’t expect but really enjoyed! Overall, I’d like to watch this movie again, maybe share it with a friend, but don’t necessarily see myself buying it. Out of 5 stars, I’d give it 3 1/2.

A Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was really nice. I had had a bit of a stressful week last week with my flu symptoms, an unrelated doctors appointment and a few unusual work things. On Friday, I left work about noon and headed to Houston to meet Len to go visit his mom and family for the weekend. I had moments duirng the drive when my symptoms from earlier in the week had come back but other than that, the drive was really nice. I’m really glad that I had the chance to drive to Houston to meet up with Len first, instead of having to do that haul all by myself (or Len all by himself).

It is a fairly good movie. The chase scenes were a bit dizzing, especially knowing I was in a car myself. Funny thing was, in the middle of the chase scenes, we were driving in the middle of nowhere so if I looked up, I felt quite disoriented! Len said he wasn’t even watching those parts of the movie since he was driving. I think what I liked best about this movie was that the makers didn’t try to redo Bourne Identity with a different setting a few different people. Great action scenes, too! I recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet.

As soon as we got into Weslaco, we went straight to sleep (or I went back to sleep). We had lots to do the next day! We rented a tiller and Len tilled the yard and I raked all the grass out of the dirt while making the soil even. My back, shoulders and arms hurt so badly all day Sunday! But I knew the hurt was creating much needed muscles so I was okay with it.

Saturday night, we went out to dinner with Anne, her husband Graham, Kelly, and Eric. The Vietnamese restaurant we went to had fairly good food but I’m not happy one bit with their service. When you make a mistake like forgetting one person’s dinner, you do everything you can to make it up to that person. They didn’t really do that. I mean, I got my dinner (after everyone else was close to being finished) but it wasn’t cooked properly and I don’t think any of it was comped or reduced in price for the hassle. Not professional one bit!

After, Anne & Graham had to head home but the rest of us went to Fast Eddie’s and met up with Piojo and his friend (I can’t remember his name, I’m sorry!). Funny thing, we go in and go to order drinks and the bartender is a guy I went to college with! Talk about a small world!! Anywho, we hung out there and talked and laughed and had a few good drinks, of course. I don’t think Len’s liking this no beer thing we’re doing. I don’t mind it as much because I’m more flexible with myself about restrictions. If I have one or two sodas or beer periodically (like once a month or so), I don’t see that it’ll do terrible deterioration to my new habits. Then again, he’s a bit more intense about all than I am.

So, I’m home and the week is going strong. I’ve got meetings about every night this week and my mom’s birthday is Thursday. Lots to do!

Movie Update 1

This is totally my opinions on these movies. If your opinions differ, okay. I can dig that.

What a wonderful love story that wasn’t about “regular” love. (But what is “regular love? Does anyone know? Anywho…) Cole Porter loved his wife Linda but he was also like the stereotypical “artist” — very excentric. The way they lived their lives together and apart and with others was so…real. I didn’t think it glamourized him as a phenominal composer or gay lifestyles of that era or romanticize the love story that was or wasn’t. I think I’m going to buy it. I really enjoyed it.

This was a pretty good movie. My friend Cathy and my sister Trish really enjoyed this movie but I found it a bit slow to get into. But I had my mind on other things and my phone kept ringing so maybe it was that. I think I’m going to watch it again. Maybe not right away but I’ll probably add it back to my queue so it’ll get sent back to me again. I think time may have to pass so any feelings I may have towards it can subside. Silly, you say? Probably so. But that’s just me.

Krez & Eric, you guys have to watch this Unrated Extended Edition of the movie. Lots of boobies!!! HA! I’m glad I rented the unrated edition; I don’t think they could make a rated edition this funny. All they went through just for White Castles. I mean, they’re good burgers but damn!!!! I guess it’s a good thing we don’t have White Castles or anything like them here in Texas. What I liked the most about this movie is that it’s not totally stupid funny. It’s clever. Reminded me of Office Space in a way. Good flick. Good laughs!

Okay, so that’s my review. Next movies coming are:
