Got up, talked to my dad about mother’s day then Len.
Cleaned house…did several loads of laundry. Still have one or two more to do.
Went shopping with Kristina Miller (Miller time; Elyse’s mom). Found some really cute clothes. Bought some, too!
Had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen (YUMMY!!)
Voted in Austin elections. My mom had gone earlier in the day and the ladies worthing the polling location remembered her.
Went to get massages from my mom at Whole Foods on Lamar & 6th. She’s the one of the only things that’s still all natural there; regardless of what their mega-marketing crew says.
Came home, vegged.
Talked to Len.
Talked to Cathy.

So, I did a lot today but it was still very relaxing.

MAY 20, 2005. The countdown begins!

Today is May 3. We are now 3 days into my birthday month!!! Including today (thanks to online shopping) you have 18 shopping days until my birthday. Now, you folks who live out of town will have to make sure to leave time for shipping.

If you haven’t guessed, I LOVE my birthday. I think it should be a national holiday. I don’t even mind getting older! Some folks think that’s wierd but a few agree with me about the way a birthday should be celebrated. Either way, I LOVE my birthday!!!! This year, I’ll be 32 years old. I remember when I thought I’d never reach 32! Funny how our young minds work.

The one thing I’m not absolutely excited about is I have to work on my birthday. Not just your average every day work day (what exactly is that, by the way?) but I have one of my extra long, almost 2 day long work days that day. We have our band banquet on my birthday. On one hand, it’s a fun idea knowing I’ll celebrate the big day with all my students and their parents. On the other hand, I have to work from 7:30 or 8:00 am until 11:00 or midnight that night. That’s a long day…and I don’t even get to have a birthday drink until the next day. Boo! Another time Piojo will have to drink 8 for me.

So, enough with the negative, let’s get to talking about the positive. I don’t know if I’m going to have a big party but I certainly want to celebrate. If you’re going to be in the Austin area that weekend (May 20 is a Friday), let me know. Saturday, we can go for drinks or something. I’m not feeling a need to drag home stinking drunk and pass out on the way home, like I did last year (thank you Cathy T for taking care of me!!), just an outing with maybe some dinner, drinks & dancing. Let me know if you can come! Presents are nice but optional. I’ve got a “Wish List” at Amazon.com. 😉

Vacation???

This weekend is the big band trip. We’re heading to Houston (yeah, yeah, I know; I go there all the time) to perform at Langham Creek HS on Friday then the rest of the weekend, is Astroworld, NASA and some other fun stuff. Of course, we’ll have around 200 people with us (mostly high school kids) but since I spend many fun hours with most of them, this trip shouldn’t be all that bad. Len’s going to join us…he gets to see how fun my crazy life can be! Some have said he’s very brave for coming on this trip….. He is jumping in head first but he’ll be alright. He’s braved well at the football games and other of my work activities he’s come to so I’m sure this will be fine. 😉

Today was exhausting!! Since we’re leaving for this trip tomorrow, the last minute stuff really did jump into my lap and I ended up spending more time in my car than I did in my office. And everywhere I went seemed to have unusually backed up traffic. Luckily, everywhere I had to go had many side streets I could take so I did. If not, I might be still out trying to accomplish the first of the many errands I had to run today!!

Kung Fu Hustle

So Len & I went to see Kung Fu Hustle (Gong Fu is the original Korean title) on Sunday. I dare say it was interesting. Len LOVED it! There were plenty of funny parts but since I’m not a consistent kung fu movie watcher, I guess I didn’t get some of the jokes or signs of satire in this movie. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a horrible movie, just not my taste. I can see that many regular readers of my blog would like this movie, though so give it whirl. 3 out of 5 stars.
