I’ll Be On My Way

I got a text today by a friend who knows I’m interested in grad school in my near future and it asked how much longer I was going to keep teaching because a professor I know just got a gig at a school as department chair of music at a small state university in the Midwest (is that vague enough?? LOL). This professor is a wonderful teacher (not instrumental) and a great man but not the reason I’m going to grad school. So, I text back how long I’m planning on teaching and that I’m not looking at this school and the text back is, “I’ wouldn’t look there, either”. So, what was the point?

This grad school thing is a very delicate subject for me. I think I got an okay education for my undergrad but more importantly, I had a great life experience. I learned how to make connections. I learned to not be afraid of what is out in the world and because of this, I’ve figured out that what I know is not enough – I want more! Going to grad school is about me and me only. Who I go to school with only depends on who is there and who shows up while I’m where I end up. I’m planning on focusing on my studies and becoming a better conductor and musician. It’s not about becoming a better administrator or making friends…not that I’ll turn away opportunities for new friendships or becoming a more efficient business person. I’m not toying or kidding around with the opportunities ahead of me here. This is for real.

Helter Skelter

Alrighty, I’m back up and running again. And, with WordPress 2.5.1, too. Oh good gravy, getting this going again was certainly a royal pain! I have no idea how it got fixed but getting the blog updated after the server upgrade was more work than any hobby should take. Especially because I couldn’t get any straight answers from anyone, especially from the folks at iPower, my web host provider. Out sourcing tech support is a terrible waste of time and not worth the money saved, in my humble opinion.

Regardless of all the drama, I’m off and blogging again. Stay tuned for new blogs and pics.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
Love you, mean it.

Fixing a Hole

Well, they did an “upgrade” of the servers which host my blog and when they finished, looks like somethings got a bit flip flopped. Odd. I’m sure it’ll take a whole new blog to get it fixed. *sigh*

From Me To You

So…I’ve been asked a few times now what I want for my birthday. Yup, it’s coming up…in about 14 days, to be more precise, as many of the loyal readers (if there are any) know. I thought I’d go ahead and just say that I’m saving for a new laptop (it’s a replacement, actually) so anything to help out with the new Apple would be nice (or Mario Kart for Wii). But honestly, I’m not expecting anything except you come to the party (if you can make it) or at least give me a call or e-card on the big day. If you’re really looking for something for me, I do have an Amazon Wish List you could always refer to. I haven’t updated it in a while so there are things on there that I’ve either purchased myself (I want for nothing much) or I’m not really wanting/needing it much anymore.

*shrug* Just come to the party!

Love you, mean it!

Magical Mystery Tour

The Texas State Panorama Steel Drum Band performed in the lobby at TMEA this past February. These videos were too big to upload onto YouTube but my Flickr account could take them so now I can share them!
