Here is a quick run-down of commercials I can remember from last night:
Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser had a few that were okay…Lord knows they had plenty to choose from!! The Hidden Bud Lights, Secret Fridge and the one with the baby clydesdale were good.
Pepsi’s commercials were utterly stupid!!! Brown and bubbly dot com? C’mon!!
The Burger King one with the ladies dressed up like the makings of a burger was a bit disturbing.
The CareerBuilder commercials with the monkeys and donkeys were pretty good, though.
The Advil commercial with Leonard Nemoy started out with potential then fell flat on it’s face.
The “I’m going to Disney World” commercial was very well done. Long, but well done.
Could they have shown the Desperate Housewives commercial enough times?
Can’t wait for Pirates of the Carribean 2 now!
I was pretty disappointed with GoDaddy.com. Last year’s commercial was so much better.
Okay, that’s all I can remember. Just so you know, I’m getting help from iFilm.com for what was played but not watching every commercial again. There are more commercials listed there than they showed here, too. Guess each region could decide what was more marketable for their demographics.
Next week, the SPHS Fine Arts Department will present our production of Damn Yankees. The details can be found by following the link above. If you’re in town and have some time, come out. It’s gonna be good stuff!
Here’s a good funny. Hope you enjoy it!
Wal-Mart has announced that they will soon be offering customers a new discount item: Wal-Mart’s own brand of wine. The world’s largest retail chain is teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery of California, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-5 range. Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but “there is a market for cheap wine,” said Kathy Micken, director of marketing. She continued, “But the right name is important.” Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart brand. The top surveyed names in popularity are:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can’t Believe It’s Not Vinegar!
2. Grape Expectations
And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine…
1. Nasti Spumante
The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum), or red meat (Squirrel).
Sorry I didn’t post this before today. I guess we can start this year with the last C&H ‘toon!
New Years was good. Cathy & I went to The Dog & Duck Pub to meet folks from her work. I got Cathy a flask for Christmas so she wanted to use it and since I had one, we armed ourselves with some Crown and were on our way. Good thing, they don’t sell mixed drinks (other than mixed beer drinks) there! They just have a beer/win license so our bringing liquor was actually a-okay. 🙂
Oh my, they didn’t really “plan” for New Years folks so they only had one bottle of champagne so as soon as Cathy & I found out, I bought it! Damned if we weren’t going to ring in the New Year without champagne. It wasn’t the best stuff but it had bubbles so I was okay. After we closed down the joint, we headed to Kerbey Lane Cafe on campus. If you go and have a salad there, you MUST try the soy-ginger dressing. It’s AMAZING! Kelly, pictures can seen by clicking on my pic above. I did promise and I work very hard to follow through. 🙂
I got home around 5 am (as I posted earlier) and went straight to sleep. I managed to sleep until around 7. The sun started coming up and was in full force by 7:30. It sure does make it hard to sleep. I managed to sleep until about 10 am so I got 5 hours of sleep. I’ve spent most of today feeling like I’ve been hit by a semi. This feeling really isn’t from drinking too much, but it’s from not getting enough sleep after a long day. I did spend most of yesterday finishing up my house cleaning. I hate when I don’t get enough sleep. A day of doing absolutely nothing except going to see my folks is just what I needed.
So, lots of fun, new friends and a whole new year. This is Cathy’s Year!
Well, I’m “being domestic” today. Or trying to be. I’m not doing too good of a job, huh Daniel? I just can’t seem to get moving but so many distractions keep coming my way. My mom always told me that you should start the New Year with a clean house. I’m trying to get that way. Luckily I have a little of tomorrow to finish up what I don’t get done today.
I’d like to also welcome my friend Daniel Montoya to our official readership. He’s been talking about “how do you comment on your site?” for a little while and I’ve finally gotten him to come out of his lurking state. Maybe now, he’ll grace my site with his comments…. Ah, as long as he introduces me to Eric Whitacre like he says he will, I don’t care if he never comments! Just kidding, Danny – you need to comment now. I’ve put you on the spot. See how I am? 😀
I’ve watched a few movies lately so I need to write some reviews. I’ll do that once I get this place clean – or once I start looking for another distraction.
I am going to go out on the town with Cathy and her co-workers from Unisys. I think it’ll be a lot of fun. 🙂 What’s in your itinerary?
I guess I’ll finish up with my next to last Calvin & Hobbs cartoon. I have one more for tomorrow! That worked out well, didn’t it? I didn’t even plan it! 😀 Hope you’ve enjoyed them.
Happy New Years Eve Eve!!!
